It is important to understand that all replacement techniques use existing hair. The Procedures aims to determine the most efficient applications for the existing hair.

Preparing for Procedures

Dr.Bosio will give you specific instructions about your preparations for the Procedures and advise you on food, drinks and smoking as well as to take and avoid taking certain vitamins and medications. The strict following of these instructions will help you feel more comfortable with the Procedures. If you smoke, it is especially important to stop smoking at least one or two weeks before the Procedures. Smoking inhibits the blood flow to the skin and can interfere with healing mechanisms.

Place where the Procedures is to be done

Hair replacement Procedures is generally performed in an ambulatory surgical center and rarely needs hospitalization.
Local anesthesia is generally done together with sedation so that you will feel comfortable and relaxed. Your scalp will be insensible to pain but you may feel some tension or pressure.
Hair microtransplant implies the taking of an area of the scalp from the donor zone, to divide it into micro and mini-grafts and transplant them onto a bald area. In general, several surgical sessions are necessary to reach satisfaction and plenitude. It can take two years to see the final result with a complete series of transplants. The covering quantity needed depends on color and texture of your hair. Thick, grey or light color hair has a better covering than thin and dark color hair. The average number of mini-grafts or micro-grafts can be up to 800 per session.
In order to keep a healthy circulation on scalp and increase the possibility of a good nutrition of drafts, these are placed separated by some millimeters from each other. In subsequent sessions, free spaces will be completed from additional drafts. Special care will be taken when placing drafts to make sure that the transplanted hair will grow in a natural direction and that hair grow in donor area will not be affected.
After the session is completed, the scalp will be covered with gauze. You might have to use a bandage for 1 or 2 days. In rare occasions, patients do not need to use a bandage.

After the Procedures

The way you feel after the Procedures depends on the complexity of the procedure. Any pain, excessive tension or palpitation can be controlled with pain-relief medication.
In general, if bandages are used they will be removed 24 to 48 hours later. You can wash your hair gently two days after. Stitches of donor zone will be removed in two weeks.
