How Aptos Works?
This low-weight high-resistance plastic threads have a clever barbed-wire design to be able to "anchor" itself to the facial tissue as the surgeon lifts the sagging anatomical structures following the vectors (directions) appropriate to obtain the desired new look.
Once released internally, the facial features will remain perfectly "anchored" in their new position for years to come. The wonderful fact that the threads can be "touched up" in the upcoming years to maintain the natural & youthful appearance obtained, makes this invention invaluable.
Will they work for everybody?
They will unfortunately NOT work for just everybody. Only during a medical consultation , your candidacy can be assessed and registered.
Who is an ideal candidate?
An ideal candidate is a person (female or male), that has some initial facial aging, noted by subtle or evident "loosening" of the tissue as well as changes in their youthful features. People with severe aging can benefit greatly with a well implanted full-set of APTOS-Threads.
When the appearance of "jowls" and deeper "marionette" lines affect negatively the facial presentation, it can be repaired using this method. An older person with some severe sagging but not extensive excess skin, can be successfully treated too . If we note important amounts of excess skin, the APTOS-Threads WILL NOT correct this problem.
The Procedure
After carefully assessing the patient and gathering all required "goals and expectations" information, a discussion is carried on about the nature and real goals of this method. Then we proceed to discuss the facial changes, what features we keep and which features must go. A thread-vectoring plan is drawn on your face after adequate skin exam and thorough pre-surgical clean up and "surgical" prep.
Very small amounts local anesthesia is used, and the threads are implanted. Minor regular activities and non-physically demanding work can be resumed in a few hours. Regular activities can be resumed in 24 hours. Normal physical or gym activities can be resumed in five days. Full recuperation and healing is expected in 21 days.
The Risks, the side effects, and potential complications
As in any other procedure involving the skin, there is a potential risk of infection, redness, bruising, swelling and delayed healing. All of them very rare in this particular procedure, but statistically possible, so we must list them.
There is a possibility of the tip of one thread "peeking out" close to the skin. It is very annoying but not an emergency. The patient should clip off the tip of bright blue thread that peeks out, using a nail clipper or small scissors or, better if possible, arrange with the Doctor a "touch up" consult.
All Aptos threads can be easily removed in minutes, with very low or no discomfort or sequelae. During a removal more threads can be adjusted, added or corrected to improve a lift. Also, years after your threads are done, you may choose to have more threads to enhance and lift more.
